Binding And Fringing
As with any thing that you use around the house, wear and tear is a normal occurrence in handmade carpets and area rugs as well. People walk, stand, and do other activities on carpets and rugs every day, and the amount of foot traffic can add or hasten the deterioration of the carpets. Damage is also unavoidable at times.
The time will come when your carpet or rug will need more than the usual care and professional cleaning. When damage begins to show or the beauty begins to fade, carpet binding and fringing may be options you could look into. At Pazyryk Carpet Gallery, we offer these repair services to restore your carpets.
There are different techniques commonly utilized for carpet fringing, such as machine carpet fringing (pre-manufactured fringes are sewn to carpet ends and edges); hand fringing (individual threads are inserted into the carpet ends and edges to attempt to restore the original look); and end stop carpet fringing (double knot end stops on fringe threads are attached).
Several techniques are also commonly employed in carpet binding. For instance, machine serging (overcasting); hand overcast binding (used to match the current carpet binding); machine carpet binding (sewing cloth layers over the carpet edges); and machine reinforced binding (usually utilized for commercial or industrial-use carpeting).
